They Say One Thing in Spanish, But Put Another Thing Down In English.

Team Kia of El Cajon sold two Spanish-speakers a 2017 Kia Sportage. The negotiations allegedly occurred primarily in Spanish. Team Kia’s personnel allegedly told these consumers that they would be making five years of monthly payments. They allegedly also told them they only would by paying $1,500 for a service contract and Gap insurance. After agreeing to buy the car and taking possession, these consumers found out they would be making six years of payments and that the Dealer had charged them $5,743 for Gap insurance, three service contracts, a theft deterrent device, and other “accessories,” which is far different from what they were told. Despite the negotiations occurring primarily in Spanish, the dealer did not give them a Spanish-language translation of the contract for the car purchase before having them sign an English-language version. With the Auto Fraud Legal Center’s help, these consumers are now trying to right this wrong.
