Patiag v. Marimart, Inc., et al. – Inadequate Refund for Vehicle License Fee Overcharge

In the case of Patiag v. Marimart, Inc., et al., Mr. Patiag alleges Woodland Hills Honda charged him $207 for Vehicle License Fees, but only paid $120 to the Department of Motor Vehicles for Vehicle License Fees. That is a difference of $87. Yet, Mr. Patiag alleges, Woodland Hills Honda only refunded him $60. Although the amount may seem minimal, this is illegal. One must consider the broader consequences of such misconduct. Mr. Patiag alleges it is Woodland Hills Honda’s practice to provide only partial refunds. In addition to seeking to cancel the transaction, Mr. Patiag seeks an order prohibiting Woodland Hills Honda from doing this to other consumers.
