Mercedes-Benz sponsors a certified pre-owned (“CPO”) vehicle program that allows dealerships to sell its vehicles as certified. A certified car must undergo extensive inspection to ensure that it is safe and reliable. Many consumers choose CPO vehicles when they want a used car they can trust. Unfortunately, CPO vehicles don’t always live up to their reputation. That was the case when one of our clients purchased a CPO Mercedes-Benz from Mercedes-Benz of San Francisco. Allegedly, the certified vehicle she purchased had been in an accident and suffered frame damage, something that should have made the car ineligible for certification.
