Buy Here, Pay Here Dealerships Must Post Fair Market Value of Vehicles
Ms. Chennault purchased a vehicle from Repossess Auto Sales, a Buy Here, Pay Here dealership in Hawthorne, California. Buy Here, Pay Here dealerships are required to post the “reasonable market value” on a vehicle so that consumers can compare the sale price of a vehicle to its “reasonable market value” before they buy it. At arbitration, Ms. Chennault alleged Repossess Auto violated the Buy Here, Pay Here laws and sold her a lemon. The arbitrator agreed and ordered Repossess Auto to buy back the vehicle and refund all of Ms. Chennault’s payments.
