ACURA MDX and ACURA RDX

Does your Acura SUV suffer from sudden hesitation on acceleration, a transmission that shifts into NEUTRAL, warning lights that illuminate, and/or an engine that stalls? The Auto Fraud Legal Center notes that owners of the 2016-2020 Acura MDX and 2019-2020 Acura RDX SUVs have problems with miscommunications between the computers and software that control the transmissions, throttles, and engines. Your dealership may attempt to dismiss the defect by telling you that you just need a software update. Software update? Is there a defect with the code? Is the software update attempting to compensate for a defect in the transmission?
These Acura vehicles are equipped with drive-by-wire throttle systems which use a computer to operate correctly. These computers are called “modules.” Your Acura SUV has the engine control modules (ECMs) and the transmission control modules (TCMs) are some of the components involved. Some may identify the ECM as the powertrain control module (PCM). If the throttle is stuck open, a vehicle can shift into NEUTRAL or a limp mode in order to prevent engine, transmission, or other vehicle damage. But if the throttle does not respond to the command to open, it will fail to allow more air into the engine.
