Is My Car a Lemon?

Just because your car has mechanical defects doesn’t mean that it’s a lemon under the eyes of the law. In order to qualify for the lemon law protections, the following conditions must be met:
• You must have a warranty in place when the defects started (beware of as-is purchases) that covers the defects (new car warranties are much broader than used car warranties).
• The defects must substantially impair the use, value, or safety of the vehicle.
• There needs to be multiple unsuccessful repair attempts of the same defect.
If your vehicle meets the above conditions, request a lemon law buyback from the dealer or manufacturer (whichever provided the warranty). If they refuse, then you might have a lemon claim. Give us a call at 858-348-1005 for a free case assessment.
